Hundredth Monkey are a very special creative public relations agency based in Newcastle upon Tyne that require a very special and creatively individual site. The brief was very open to ideas but one thing was for certain, they did not want the site to be corporate at all but to reflect the creativity of the public relations they engage on behalf of their clients. We came up with a home page animated flash interface featuring, low and behold, one hundred monkey buttons! The other sections were made in html for search engine and accessibility reasons. The home page flash buttons feature random monkey-media related content, links to monkey web stuff and case studies of 100th Monkey spreading the word. The plan was to collect monkey info from clients and the public, there's still quite a few monkey buttons in need of content so if you have any monkey stories send them to us or Hundredth Monkey!

Also featured (on the 100th button, check it out!) is a page by page animation of the now award winning promotional book 'The story of the Hundredth Monkey' which is all part of Hundredth Monkeys creative branding. We have brought to life the humor within the book and hope it tickles people enough to get them talking about it, which is what the agency are all about, spreading the word creatively. A Monkey blog is also featured within the Html sections enabling fesh content and interaction from users and clients.

Brief / Job Required:
Branding refresh and ecommerce store with secure online pro credit card payment facility. Content and site management system with products and orders dealt with via an easy to use back end administration system.

Jamies tiles have probably been the most famous of all the tile wearhouses in the North East, largely due persistent independent local radio advertising. This form of marketing has been and still is highly effective in creating brand awareness and custom. Jamie came to us knowing that there is also a lucrative market of prospective customers out there searching online (and maybe not listening to local radio!)

We worked with Jamie himself to develop a solution that would refresh his brand and appeal instantly to those looking to buy tiles online or find a store nearby (NETD has 4 wearhouses across the North East). We researched their online direct competition and uncovered their weaknesses then offered various solutions.

End Result:
Through creating a strong branding element and then designing to the needs of the user we evolved a website that gains maximum appeal and recognition. Deciding factors in the design process included the need for strong interactive photographic elements which are only present in flash based sites of competitors (that did not have ecommerce facilities and of those that have most are very basic and quite dated sites lacking in visual appeal).

We needed the site to start ranking high as quickly as possible so a completely accessible ecommerce solution was developed for search engines to be able to access and read important content with ease. The site is currently gaining a 25% increase in new visitors each month due to this development as well as ongoing SEO strategies integrated into the hosting contract.

The return on investment for Jamies Tiles new web presence and online store has already passed within the first six month and we now look to work toward making the site the No.1 tile store in the North East and eventually the uk.

Brief / Job Required:
A Site with web 2.0 capabilities to enable an online business community. BNNE required an attractive, well designed site with a large amount of user interaction with the goal of creating an online business community for the whole of the North East, giving all users a business profile page with a high level of functionality enabling them to interact with other members and promote their business within the community.

Development:
We researched into already available business community sites to assess the needs of online business networking and came to some interesting conclusions which influenced the decisions of design and user capabilities. A key factor that is missing in the functionality of other online business communities is a good reason to register, and use the site often. We incorporated along with a large amount of space for users to write about their business and services (including much larger logo upload space) a business blog for each registered business to be able to post to as often as they wish. Each new blog post is then promoted to the home page of the site, enabling businesses to promote their services and make other members aware of their services. Members can also instantly message each other, without any restrictions (apart from not spamming) and request connections. Registered members are also given access to business related features and articles by the administration team who have access to a large robust content and site management system, which we have trained the admin team to use. The CMS is capable of handing huge amounts of user data and enables the administration a powerful way to handle user registration and the ability to email all members.

End Result (4 Month from Launch) :
The BNNE now have a web presence with the ability to build a large online business community, with a large amount of user enhancements giving businesses a very good reason to join and keep on using the site. A forum, user groups, news feeds and the ability for users to contribute with features and articles were also added. User generated content has become the key element to the sites success with businesses making regular posts (now viewable by none members) keeping the site fresh.
